The Centuro Global Expansion Conference 2023 (CenturoGEC2023), organised by Centuro Global, brought together leaders from around the world to discuss challenges and opportunities within the global market. With over 60 nationalities represented, the conference focused on the need for businesses to be resilient and adaptable in the face of constant change.
Having closed on a £3.3M round of funding with Mercia Asset Management, Centuro Global’s expertise in scaling expansion strategies was shared among CenturoGEC2023 stakeholders and delegates. The conference, designed to bring CEOs, company founders, investors, and other executives, featured roundtable discussions, debates, fireside chats, and a keynote speech from international leaders in AI, blockchain, smart city innovation, and enterprise.
Elaborating on these themes, CenturoGEC2023’s impressive lineup of keynote speakers provided invaluable insights into the global expansion landscape. The speakers included industry leaders like Babylon Health’s Ali Parsa, who spoke on the role of digital innovation in building global health systems.
Founding Partner of Global Tax Network UK, Richard Watts-Joyce, also spoke about the importance of building strong networks to sustain international growth ecosystems.
Other notable speakers included Raquel Katigbak, Global Client Partner – Technology at IBM, who discussed the role of technology in driving global expansion, and Rolls-Royce’s Peter Knight, who spoke about how companies can adapt and leverage the pivotal position of the GM function to emerging trends including DE&I, sustainability, remote work and employer duty of care element across multiple organisational stakeholders.
Resilience will be a Key
Reflecting on current growth drivers across global markets, Zain Ali, CEO of Centuro Global, urged delegates to focus on ‘resilience’ – in terms of building solutions, technologies, and infrastructures that can be applied anywhere worldwide. He provided insights, derived from conversations with investors and lived experience, on what it is that stakeholders expect from growing, internationally-minded organisations.
Underscoring the role of resilience in successful global expansion, he expanded on strategies for businesses to lean in resilience, especially when dealing with adversity, withstanding shocks, and continuously adapting and accelerating disruptions as they emerge into new markets: “When speaking to investors about what they want from organisations, their answer is resilience. Resilience in how expanding organisations navigate foreign markets, where business and cultural practices are unfamiliar.”
“We’re at a pivotal moment in history when new landscapes, markets, and technologies will challenge businesses looking to create an international presence. It is the companies that remain resilient who will build the foundations for a better tomorrow.”
Building Tomorrow Means Scaling Technology and Collaboration
In pursuit of a “better tomorrow”, CenturoGEC2023 gave leaders the opportunity to redress the status quo in terms of the role technology will play in defining future markets. Leaders who have, in their own right, created infrastructures that determine how we currently address some of the industry’s most pressing issues. They were challenged to test old ways of thinking and create a new vision that would make way for the next wave of innovation.
Throughout discussions on this topic, the use of data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning was highlighted as a significant driver for change. Attendees collaborated on how they could make use of these technologies to scale partnerships and their organisations across the globe. Speakers like Hugo Pinto, Chief Revenue Officer of Filament AI, led thinking around strategies that helped leaders leverage the potential of these technologies – in the context of enhancing decision-making and accelerating expansion into new markets.
Additionally, leadership discussions emphasised how technology unifies teams working with different tools and languages, allowing them to work more efficiently towards common goals.
Global Networks: The Keystone for Global Expansion
Above all, the conference emphasised the importance of human interaction in an age of AI automation and technological disruption. As Asma Bashir, co-founder of Centuro Global, noted, “Despite where things are headed with AI automation, we still believe in the power of human interaction. For me personally, the in-person events have the biggest value”.
With regard to creating a wide-reaching global presence, delegates were advised to leverage the power of interaction. Specifically, creating and leaning on the ‘right networks’, like those created at CenturoGEC2023. As MC and TV Personality Natalie Korneitsik stated: “You need to be able to connect to survive in tomorrow’s market”.
Delegates from the event agreed, saying that the most significant takeaways they gained from the CenturoGEC2023 were through learning from new connections, peer-led discussions, and conversations with experienced entrepreneurs. All of which will undoubtedly define the way we reimagine the future of international markets and how to scale enterprise.
By building connections and collaborating with other businesses and leaders, Centuro Global’s #CenuroGEC2023 gave delegates the opportunity to come up with innovative solutions that address the most pressing challenges facing the world today.
